NYC MUGGY JUICY TROPICAL WEEK AHEAD – Good late morning everyone. After some heavy rain and gusty winds last night, NYC is left with muggy, tropical, and juicy conditions out there which look to last for an extended period of time.

Deep south weather has arrived as far as high dew points and puffy cumulus, and the chance of showers and thunderstorms at any time during the day or night. Look for clouds and sun today, with that chance of showers and storms popping up at any given moment as action will pop up over the water and drift our way in periods – day or night. Expect highs in the low to mid 80’s today with muggy conditions. The biggest threat of any storms will be torrential downpours and localized flooding.

As a trough drapes itself along the east coast, expect this weather to continue for a very prolonged period of time, possibly 7-14 days. Warm and humid air will flow up from the south, as the sun works the atmosphere and interacts with energy aloft and/or just to our west, giving us a chance of a shower or form at any time. Depending on the timing of clouds and precip, will dictate how high our temps go.

Look for highs this period anywhere from the low 80’s and oppressively humid, to even low 90’s and oppressively humid. On average, we will be in the low to mid 80’s, but upper 80’s and low 90’s will pop easily if we get extra sun and less rain. No washouts are expected during this pattern, and we will break down the forecast day-to-day as far as what’s expected rain-wise, cloud cover, and what the high temps will be.

For those venturing out in their boats, stay away from the ocean, stay in the bays and close to port. Listen to your local NOAA frequency to hear any marine warnings that may pop up, keep an eye to the sky, and an eye on your smartphones to look at the local radar. Conditions may be calm, then suddenly deteriorate and become dangerous for recreational vessels.
