NYC Nasty Weather Today & Tomorrow
Good morning everyone. Nasty and raw weather has taken hold in the Northeast as our pattern begins to change into winter-mode across a wide area. Strong low pressure in the Great Lakes is currently in the process of transferring its energy to coastal/near-coastal areas of the Tri-State area.
As of now, rainy and raw conditions persist, with temperatures stuck in the 40’s as a chilly rain falls. However, as our new low pressure system deepens, rain will change to snow in higher elevation hills and the Catskill areas of New York and Pennsylvania. In some cases, 12-18″ of snow is possible in areas where the heaviest convection occurs. Elsewhere, lighter snows and/or a mix of rain and snow will occur N&W of the NYC area. As for the coast, it will be a cold rain with maybe a little graupel mixed in from time to time.
Behind our low pressure where clear skies prevail and cold air moves in, we could see some frost and freeze conditions in parts of North Carolina and South Carolina. For the moment, frost advisories are posted across central and eastern areas of North Carolina, while some of those advisories stretch into the north-central area of South Carolina. Frost conditions overnight could do damage or wipe out late season crops or plants, so take precaution during the late night/early morning hours.
Here is your local NYC Metro forecast –
SATELLITE
Look for on and off rain today with raw conditions and temps falling through the 40’s. We’ll have mid to upper 30’s overnight with on and off showers. Some of those showers could contain some wet flakes or graupel. The same goes for tomorrow with mid 40’s and some on and off cold showers.
WEATHER RADAR
We’ll have AM clouds on Saturday, then PM sun with highs near 50. We make a nice recovery on Sunday, with full sunshine and low 50’s.
Our good weather continues on Monday, with more sunshine and mid 50’s for a comfortable day.
