NYC PM Scattered Storms Today Heat Returns Tomorrow
Good morning everyone. Scattered showers and a few rumbles continue to linger around the Long Island area and northeast into New England. It’ll be slow to clear, but we’ll get some blue patches and sun in the region before we start watching the radar again for scattered storms. Heat returns tomorrow and will stick with us through Wednesday, then we see a strong cold front move through on Thursday to give us a comfortable Friday – Sunday.
SATELLITE
Look for some of those showers to continue across Long Island for a little while, then we will see some blue patches. At any point in the day, we can see a shower pop up, but the scattered storms will wait until evening. We’ll watch the radar to see who gets what and when, but expect a mostly quiet day overall. Some of these storms may reach severe limits locally, so look for gusty winds, frequent lightning, torrential rain, and small hail possible. Highs today in the mid to upper 80’s and humid.
WEATHER RADAR
Tomorrow we go hot. Morning clouds will give way to a mix of sun and clouds, and we should be looking at low 90’s throughout most of the area. For Tuesday, NW winds will help raise the temps a bit, and possibly all the way to the shore. Highs Tuesday will be in the low to mid 90’s. We “cool” off a bit on Wednesday, but nothing dramatic or life-altering. Sunshine continues with upper 80’s to near 90 temps.
Thursday is when the big cold front comes through and we’ll have to watch on the timing. So far it looks like we’ll see some afternoon/evening storms, but not before we go for upper 80’s again with clouds and sun. This line of storms will be more organized and widespread compared to today, with straight-line winds the primary threat.
Friday is looking dry, pleasant, and breezy with low to mid 80’s for highs, then we will turn down the breeze on Saturday with more comfortable weather and more low to mid 80’s. Sunday looks a tad warmer and more humid, but nothing extreme. We should see mid to upper 80’s with the slight chance of a shower or storm.
