NYC Popcorn Showers Dominate Three Day Forecast

NYC Popcorn Showers Dominate Three Day Forecast

Good afternoon everyone. We’re watching this pattern play out with a very slow moving low meandering around the Great Lakes region. Meanwhile the long range continues to play out as expected, with a few gold nuggets here and there (sunshine-dependent), and maybe some longer term relief in mid-May.

In the short term, we are stuck in the 55-60 degree range today through Thursday. Any sunshine will spark more clouds and showers as it adds fuel to the cut-off upper air low. Expect varying amounts of cloudiness with a few blue breaks each day, and scattered showers possible each day.

WEATHER RADAR

Things don’t begin to break down till Friday, with sun & clouds, either no rain or just a very slight chance of a popcorn shower, and highs in the near 60/low 60 range.

Saturday and Sunday are both winners, with full sunshine and 65-70 degree temps Saturday; then 70-75 Sunday with the help of a very light WNW flow & sinking air.

To start your workweek next week, we could go a little bit warmer on Monday with sunshine and mid to upper 70’s.

In the long range I don’t know if the mild/warm air is sustainable though as our boundary returns and more clouds try and sneak in. This is the result of a ridge trying to build across the Midwest and push our way. This will be a slow process and probably won’t play out till some time around mid-month. If the ridge is strong enough to build northward, we could see some stability in the temps and introduce longer periods of mild/warm air. Eventually it has to happen, but obviously right now we are struggling.
