NYC Quiet Weekend Ahead Eyes On Hurricane Sam

Good morning everyone. Rain this morning is slow to move, but we’re getting there as far as opening up the door to a wonderful weekend weather-wise. We should have a pretty quiet week overall, and eyes are on Hurricane Sam to see what he’ll do to our jet stream in the long range.

Rain is taking its time getting through eastern Nassau County and all of Suffolk, but it’ll eventually come to an end over the next few hours. For NYC, clearing has already begun and some spots are experiencing full sunshine. Long Island will get in on it too, and we’ll have highs in the near 70/low 70 range.

WEATHER RADAR

Full sunshine and light westerlies will help get us into the mid to upper 70’s tomorrow, then a steady breeze will keep us in the mid 70’s on Sunday.

Your workweek looks excellent and mostly dry for now. We’ll have variable sunshine through the week, with our sunniest days being Monday/Tuesday. Look for mid 70’s throughout the week.

The tropics are interesting again with the formation of Hurricane Sam. He’s way out there and no immediate threat anyone, but we’ll be watching him closely as he goes north of the Windward Islands. Sam will most likely be one of the strongest hurricanes of the season, and we’ll be watching to see what impact he has on the jet stream once he goes wherever he goes. Storms of this size tend to knock things the other way for a bit, which may mean a warmer start to October than expected before he existed.
