NYC Scattered Severe Weather Flooding Continues Today
Good morning everyone. Tornado watches remain posted for parts of Long Island and into New England as heavy showers and severe weather embedded within those showers, continue to move ENE across the area. We’re still not out of the woods for NYC with more showers and storms developing, which is why flood watches remain posted throughout the region. Meanwhile, we have sunshine and heat returning over the next couple of days, with more smoke and haze issues Monday night into possibly Wednesday.
As far as our heatwave prospects, it looks as if things have tamed a bit. Hot weather will still be available, but nothing that’ll hit the official parameters for heatwave status.
SATELLITE
For today, expect a continuation of on and off heavy showers and storms. Where storms do set up, look for possible flash flooding, especially in the notorious flood prone areas. Highs today will be near 80 and humid.
We clear things out tomorrow for a mix of sun & clouds later in the day. Highs will be a humid upper 80’s to near 90. Haze and smoke will also begin to creep in as the day goes on.
WEATHER RADAR
We’ll do it again on Tuesday, but we’ll also add in the chance of some PM heavy storms. Some of those storms may contain hail, damaging winds, and frequent lightning. Again, look for haze and smoke in the area. Look for more upper 80’s to near 90.
Haze and smoke may stick around on Wednesday, but we’ll have to see about the wind profile first. Highs will be int he upper 80’s to near 90.
We’ll increase the humidity again to uncomfortable levels on Thursday, and do another repeat of upper 80’s to near 90. The risk of PM storms will increase again as well, some of which may be severe.
Showers may stick around on Friday, with more clouds than sun. Highs in the mid to upper 80’s.
