NYC Heat Remains Air Quality Issues Return
Good morning everyone. We have a fairly hot day today unfolding, nothing really out of the ordinary, but the big story is the return of haze and smoke into the Ohio Valley and Northeast. That’ll impact the area in terms of poor air quality, and those who have pulmonary issues or elderly, should take caution today and stay indoors when possible. Other than that, we’ll have a few opportunities for scattered severe weather tomorrow, Thursday, and Friday afternoon.
SATELLITE
We’ll have a mix of sun and clouds this morning, then the haze and smoke settle back into the area. Expect highs near 90 with muggy conditions.
Look for a repeat tomorrow, with highs again near 90, smokey/hazy conditions, and we add the chance of some scattered strong to severe storms tomorrow afternoon. Some of those storms could contain gusty winds and small hail.
WEATHER RADAR
Wednesday dries out a bit, but we remain in the upper 80’s to near 90 throughout the area. We’ll see what happens with the wind profile in terms of smoke and haze, but as of now I’m leaving the chance for another poor air quality day.
Thursday we’ll have a mix of sun and clouds, and once again, the chance of some scattered strong to severe storms in the afternoon. Highs will be near 90.
A mix of sun and clouds are expected Friday into the weekend, with the chance of PM storms each day. Temps drop slightly into the mid to upper 80’s, but it’ll be very muggy out.
