NYC Seasonable Temps Return Plus Long Range Heat Simmers Down

Good Sunday morning everyone! We have a much nicer day today in terms of temperatures and a greatly minimized chance of thunderstorms. Everything worked out the way I thought it would yesterday, with a large majority of storms staying off to our west, and weakening when they tried to make the transit. The only ones who saw action yesterday, were Manhattan, Staten Island, and western parts of Brooklyn. Overnight, a weakened area of thundershowers made it across Long Island with little fanfare aside from a few loud rumbles.

For today, expect clouds and sun, maybe an AM shower across the boroughs, then seasonable with highs in the mid 80’s. We could see a PM thunderstorm, but the majority of the action will be to the north of us.

WEATHER RADAR

Look for pretty much the same tomorrow. We’ll have a mix of sun and clouds, mid 80’s, and the slight chance of a PM storm. Tuesday we go hot, but I’m looking at everything today and it doesn’t look like it lasts. Expect sunshine and near 90 temps Tuesday, then we “dip” into the mid 80’s Wednesday as clouds roll in.

Things look to get a little troughy in the Northeast, with fast moving, weak fronts moving through from the NW; and high pressure looking to become a dominant feature in the maritime. It’s still summer, so we’re not looking at cool temps, but what was supposed to be near 90 temps for Tuesday – Saturday, will settle down in the 80’s instead.

Best chance of storms will be Wednesday and Friday as of now.

Tropics are quiet for the moment aside from the west coast, and our typical 1980’s-like summer is bringing typical 1980’s-like tropical activity; where the west coast was dominant in terms of activity.
