NYC Second Look Long Range

NYC Second Look Long Range

Good morning everyone. We had some wild weather last night, but the NYC area was spared much of the severe weather due to our marine layer that has become more prominent over the past couple of weeks. That will continue as well as a mostly comfortable forecast. However and as discussed in our long range, we do have pockets of heat here and there, and we will point out those roundabout time frames in this synopsis.

For today, clouds stick around with upper 70’s to low 80’s. The majority of showers and storms are well off to our Northeast, but we could see a popcorn shower or storm here or there. When you get a popcorn storm after the passage of a front, there is always the threat small hail where these do pop up. The majority of this scattered popcorn action will remain in the interior, but we will watch to see if anything sneaks down.

WEATHER RADAR

For the rest of your workweek, sunshine returns tomorrow with comfortably warm conditions. Look for highs in the mid 80’s. We start out with sunshine on Thursday, then some clouds roll in late. There’s the slight chance of a shower or storm later in the day or overnight. Highs in the low to mid 80’s. Sunshine returns again for Friday with highs in the mid 80’s once again.

Your weekend is looking fairly good, but the heat starts to increase on Sunday. Expect sunshine on Saturday with the slight chance of a shower or storm in the evening or overnight. Highs will be in the mid 80’s. We’ll turn things up a bit on Sunday, including the humidity, with highs in the 85-90 range.

Next week will be one of those pockets of very warm to hot temps. Next Monday through that Wednesday has potential highs in the upper 80’s to near 90 (possibly even low 90’s before our next front passes). After that, we should return to comfortably warm conditions. However, we won’t be done with the heat yet as we have the potential for a late heat wave going into the last week of August. We’ll watch closely to see if this ridge is able to build, but the potential is there for it.

Stay tuned.
