NYC Flooding Potential Tomorrow & Overnight

NYC Flooding Potential Tomorrow & Overnight

Good morning everyone. We’re enjoying a nice, quiet, and very warm Sunday with temps in the mid to upper r80’s. Meanwhile, a very vigorous system is off to our west and churning our way. This will impact the late overnight hours into Tuesday as spokes of energy pass through with the help of low pressure to our west, then north. We also continue to look at the long range, that includes a triad of comfortable, seasonable, and hot air. Aside from brief, front related heat, we could see several days of hot conditions a little bit past mid-August and/or the last week of August.

For today we remain quiet with increasing clouds late. Highs are where they’ll be for today, with mid to upper 80’s being reported. Overnight, we could see some on and off showers & storms, but most of the action will most likely be closer to sunrise that to midnight.

Tomorrow is looking humid and gloomy. Look for on and off showers and storms, some of which will be on the strong to severe side. Where repeat or slow moving echoes set up, we could see flash flooding. Highs tomorrow in the upper 70’s to low 80’s.

WEATHER RADAR

We’ll ahem another round of showers and storms overnight tomorrow, then another round possible for Tuesday. Tuesday however we could see some blue patches, and that’ll help add to the humid and warm feel. Highs in the mid 80’s, and watch again for that flooding potential.

Wednesday is quiet and sunny, with comfortably warm conditions and highs in the mid 80’s. Thursday will start off with some AM sun, then increasing clouds late. We’ll have the slight chance of a shower or storm, increasing humidity, and highs in the mid to upper 80’s.

Friday’s highs depend on what our front wants to do as far as timing. For now I’m going to call for clouds and sun, chance of some on and off scattered showers and storms in the afternoon, and highs in the mid to upper humid 80’s.

We begin to dry out on Saturday with sunshine and mid 80’s, but we could see a popcorn shower or storm with some upper-air instability leftover. Expect more sunshine on Sunday with highs in the mid to maybe upper 80’s.
