NYC SPRING BREAK LEANS TOWARDS FAVORABLE
Good morning everyone. The rain has decided to give us a break today before rainy and raw conditions return tomorrow. We’ll have a lot of ups and downs in the upcoming week, but we could see break in the action with some mild temps as we end March and enter April; something that I’ve been discussing since a few weeks ago.
SATELLITE
Sunny skies rule today, and westerlies will turn to a more light northerly direction, making for a fairly comfortable day. Expect highs in the mid 50’s, then increasing clouds overnight with our next system already approaching.
For tomorrow, low pressure will scoot to our south, putting us on the northern fringe of its precipitation shield. It’ll also straighten as it departs, kicking back some gusty ENE winds; so look for a showery & raw day tomorrow with highs in the mid to upper 40’s at best.
REGIONAL RADAR
We clear out again on Thursday, bringing a very similar day to today. Expect sunny skies, breezy conditions, and mid 50’s.
Friday looks to be the nicest day of the week as we get near 60, lighten the wind, and keep the sunny skies.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
Our weekend looks a little messy at times with our next system approaching on Saturday. A warm front stretched out across the Ohio Valley and back towards the western Great Lakes will move across the area, but have issues fully making it through. That’ll increase the clouds very early Saturday, then give us the chance for some rain by late morning/early afternoon. Highs will be in the low to mid 50’s.
I don’t see rain happening for 3 days straight, but clouds will stick around when we’re not raining. We might catch a break overnight Saturday into early Sunday, then the rain returns as the cold front portion of our system moves through. Look for more clouds and showers Sunday, then maybe a scattered shower Monday with low pressure finally departing.
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA

After everything departs, we’re left with a little bit of a void in the Northeast as everything slows down a bit. If it all works out, we could see a period of dry weather for 7 days or so with a system getting hung up in the Rockies, then slowly trudging east as it stretches out.
For the first few days, we’ll probably be under the influence of a cool maritime high, bringing sunny skies, a cool breeze, and seasonal temps. However, when it departs, the potential is there for some 60’s-70’s before the next system makes it here during or just after the first weekend of April. What makes this mild push different, is that if it materializes, it’ll be more than just 1 day.
