NYC SPRING SMATTERING BEFORE MONTHS END POSSIBLE

Good morning everyone and Happy Saint Patrick’s Day! With March’s ups and downs, especially in the New York City area, it’s hard to imagine we can get warm again when things are cool, or cool again when things are warm, but anything and everything is possible in March; and it’s looking that way.

For your St. Patrick’s Day, we are on the cool side of March, with sun and clouds today, a steady NW breeze, and highs in the mid 40’s.

Cool weather remains in place tomorrow, and that slight sprinkle or flurry chance remains. Clouds and sun again, with highs in the mid 40’s.

Mid 40’s stick around for one more day on Tuesday, then we begin to modify back towards 50 again for Wednesday.

For Thursday, we’ll be watching several features on the map, including low pressure scooting way off the coast, and a weak disturbance slipping by from the Great Lakes. This could slightly alter our forecast for the day, but for now we’ll put a slight chance of showers in the area with highs in the mid 50’s.

To end the week, we’re back near 50 for now (could be possibly cooler), and the weekend is looking dry.

In the long range, we could get some more system-related mildness/warmth if everything works out right. As we saw on Friday, system timing, sunshine, and how much of a role our marine layer plays, all comes into the equation when trying to figure out how mild we can go.

If things go right, I think we could see a couple of more shots at near 70 temps before month’s end; and don’t forget after a taste of spring this time of year, we usually get a shot of cool weather as well.
