NYC SPRING STRETCH UNDERWAY SPRING SOAKER AHEAD – Good afternoon everyone! Beautiful weather has drifted over the area, and we’ll see one more cool day in today before more seasonable temps begin. As always in the Northeast with spring though, it does come with a caveat.
Bright sunshine and mid to upper 50’s will dominate the entire area for the day. Winds will also begin to subside as the day goes on, helping the strong April sunshine make it feel warmer than it is. Tomorrow, Spring is sprung with 60-65 degree temps in most of the area, plus bright sunshine again.
To begin the week, 60-65 degree temps and sunshine dominate once again for Monday, then we begin a slow decline weather-wise as easterly winds point towards an approaching system. On Tuesday, we’ll have morning sun, then increasing clouds. We’ll eek out one more spring-like day with highs in the low 60’s, then the spring soaker arrives.
Low pressure will head up the coast in a Nor’easter-like fashion, giving us a steady rain, heavy at times, late Tuesday night, possibly into Wednesday night. Minor coastal flooding could be an issue at high tides, as well as localized street flooding in poor drainage areas. Look for temps near 50 Wednesday.
Things are slow to clear out for Thursday, but we bounce back towards normal temperature-wise. Expect stubborn clouds, some scattered light showers, and highs in the upper 50’s to low 60’s. Then we slowly introduce some more sun into the region on Friday with highs once again 60-65.
Look for near-normal temps to continue, as well as more systems trekking across the lower 48. This will give us the potential for a few brief, front-related, above normal days as we enter May.
