NYC Storms Should Taper Off Before Fireworks Tonight

Good afternoon everyone. As stated yesterday, we had an increasing chance of thunderstorms today as energy will wind up being slow to leave the area. This scenario has come to fruition, with nature giving us some dousing rain, localized flooding, and her own fireworks, before the real fireworks begin tonight. We also have some hot weather arriving, with a little “mini-heatwave” visiting the area tomorrow and Thursday before a front swings through late Friday.

For today, we have those slow moving heavy showers and strong storms in parts of the area. We also have a few scattered storms behind this batch, so we’re not done yet. Things will begin to taper off early evening as low pressure finally departs to our north and east. Highs will be a humid 85-90 depending on the sunshine and who gets to see it.

Tomorrow is looking sunny and hot, with highs in the 90-95 range. Thursday we go for an exact replica as tomorrow.

WEATHER RADAR

Clouds begin to roll in on Friday with increasing humidity. We’ll have the slight chance of some evening storms, then a better chance of showers and storms overnight. Highs will be a very humid 85-90, also sunshine dependent.

Your weekend is looking slightly “cooler”, with humid conditions and highs in the mid 80’s. Each day we’ll have a mix of sun and clouds with a chance of scattered showers and storms.

In the long range, we have the chance of some more hot conditions mid-week next week, but there’s nothing sustained as far as heat is concerned right at this moment.
