NYC Sunday Forecast Not Written In Stone Yet

Good morning everyone. We continue our beautiful but cool weather and chilly mornings through tomorrow. However, I’ve been keeping an eye on Sunday for a while now, and I still see some issues; maybe even adding to it as well. I’ll explain below even though the NWS continues to have a sunny Sunday forecast.

Quiet and easy is a good thing, and quiet and easy it is for the next 2 days. Look for sunshine and low 50’s today, with more upper 30’s in NYC overnight. Away from the City, we’ll see more low to mid 30’s.

Tomorrow remains quiet, and temps should creep up a bit into the mid 50’s. Lows overnight will settle down, rising back into the near 40 range, but more 30’s are expected away from the City.

WEATHER RADAR

Sunday is our most “complicated” forecast in the next several days as low pressure emerges from the Gulf, crosses Florida, and exits off of the Southeast coast. I still question how north this thing can go, and I’m seeing hints that the cloud/light rain shield may creep closer than some outlets are thinking.

For that reason and until I see otherwise, I’m going to call for increasing clouds on Sunday; highs in the mid to upper 50’s. We’ll be also watch the light rain closely to see if it clips coastal NJ, NYC, and Long Island.

If things change, we’ll scale it back, but I’m not comfortable yet and I think the outlets are missing something here.

To start next week, we remain off to a sunny and milder/mild start. Expect sunshine and near 60 temps Monday, then mid 60’s for Tuesday and more sunshine. Confidence remains low on front-timing and mild air for the remainder of the week due to the “angle of attack” for our next system. A southeasterly flow vs. a south or southwesterly flow, will impact our highs +/- 5-10+ degrees.
