NYC Sunshine Returns Today Scattered Rain Returns Tomorrow

Good morning everyone. We have a nice sunny day today, but then full sunshine doesn’t return again till Monday. These are the symptoms of an active period, and we will keep this trend going for the next 10-15 days at minimum. Some mild air is possible next week, but then the potential for a cutoff low may keep things below average some time mid-month.

Enjoy the sunshine today, because tomorrow and Sunday are not ideal overall. We’ll have light westerlies today and seasonable temps in the low 60’s.

We’ll have a mix of sun and clouds tomorrow, then increasing clouds as a small wave of energy transits to our west. This will give interior parts of the northeast, specifically NW NJ and NEPA, the chance of some thunderstorms and even some brief heavy snow in higher elevations. Over here, we could see a few scattered showers and storms. Highs will be cool and in the mid 50’s.

WEATHER RADAR

Clouds and sun remain the forecast for Sunday with the slight chance of a shower. We remain on the cool side and in the mid 50’s.

Finally for Monday, full sunshine returns as well as seasonal temps. We’ll head back into he low 60’s, and keep this trend going through Thursday. Sunshine remains in place for Tuesday, with mid 60’s, then increasing clouds on Wednesday and highs 65-70.

Our next system heads in for Wednesday night into Thursday, and our high temps on Thursday with be front-related. Look for scattered showers and storms with highs a muggy 65-70, cooler at the shore.

In the long range we’re not done with the parade of systems, and a mild day here or there will be the best we do. We’re also keeping an eye on steering currents, because things may grind to a halt just after mid-month, keeping low pressure spinning to our north in Canada. If this comes to fruition, we could wind up with several chilly days with a stiff northerly flow.
