NYC Toasty Time Begins But Holiday Weekend Remains Questionable

Good hot morning everyone. We’re starting off the day near 80 already, and that’s the telltale sign we’re going to easily push pass 90 today. We’ll have these toasty temps through Wednesday for our mini-heatwave, then things become a little fugazy Thursday through Sunday, possibly even next Monday.

For today, we have morning blue skies, then we’ll see a mix of sun and clouds. We’re going hot today with mid 90’s in most spots aside from the shore, and we’ll have the slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm.

WEATHER RADAR

That slight chance of a shower or storm remains with us tomorrow and Wednesday as does the heat. Expect mid 90’s, possibly a few upper 90’s in spots (cooler at the shore), and we may not drop below 80 tomorrow night as a low.

Thursday is when things get tricky as a cold front approaches the area. The tricky part is not the cold front, but whether or not it gets hung up near the coast. At least for Thursday, you can expect some AM blue patches, then increasing clouds. The afternoon is looking showery, maybe a rumble of thunder, with highs a humid mid to upper 80’s (depending on the sunshine).

Friday we cool off as that front exits or sits over the area, and you can expect more showery conditions with highs in the upper 70’s to low 80’s.

Questions remain whether that moisture is able to fully clear the area or not over the weekend. If it doesn’t, we could see a few waves form along the front and head NNE. That’ll bring clouds and showers into the area, but it is impossible this early to talk about timing of precip if this scenario plays out. What I can say is that you shouldn’t expect a full washout either day on Saturday or Sunday, but if the timing is bad on a batch of showers, then it could ruin some plans.

Let’s watch this and see if we can focus better on it mid-week. I know people are looking for answers now, but it’s too tricky even more the most talented minds out there, such as myself. 😛
