NYC Very Hot Conditions Continue & May Return Next Week
Good morning everyone. The heat is on and aside from a “hiccup” Friday and this weekend, we may be building on a very hot pattern overall for the next couple of weeks. Yes, summer is obviously warm here, but we’re talking about a return to well above average temps and more 90’s possible.
SATELLITE
Sunshine dominates today as does humidity and mid 90’s. We’re keeping the slight chance of a strong thunderstorm in the forecast, and anything that does pop up could easily reach severe limits. There won’t be anything organized though and the “majority” of the action will be inland.
WEATHER RADAR
We’ll do the same tomorrow, except some spots may see some upper 90’s. The chance of scattered afternoon storms remain and again, these may easily push severe limits with all of that heat & energy.
Thursday remains the transition day even though we are still very warm and muggy. Look for more clouds than sun, mid to upper 80’s, humid conditions, and on & off showers and storms. We’ll keep an eye on the radar because any echos that keep regenerating over the same spots, may cause localized flooding.
Friday is looking much cooler and showery, especially in the morning. We’ll have variable cloudiness all day with highs in the mid to upper 70’s.
The weekend remains a problem forecast-wise, with Sunday looking like the “better” of the two days. Energy will stall near the coast, with a few waves forming along it. The question is, how close do these waves get and how quickly do they move. We may be threading the needle here as far as precip-timing, and I don’t think either day is a washout. For now, I suggest NOT cancelling plans unless it’s beach-related, but just know what to expect in a worse case scenario. That would be mostly cloudy skies each day, with mid 70’s as highs, and the chance of a some scattered showers.
After the weekend and we get this shmutz outta here, look for the possibility of 90’s rebuilding into the area sometime next Tuesday/Wednesday and onward.
