NYC TYPICAL APRIL PATTERN RESUMES AFTER WARM YESTERDAY
Good morning everyone. We had a pretty warm day in most of the NYC area yesterday with the help of some extra sun. This is why I kept that door open a crack. The southeast is starting to warm up nicely and if you time a front perfectly into our area, then add in some partial clearing, the sky is the limit (within reason). Today though, we return to reality and we’ll continue our up and downs, with a slow but steady increase in highs overall.
EASTERN SATELLITE
We still have the rest of that system to get through today, so expect clouds and a chance of showers, especially in the late afternoon. Highs today will be a cloudy upper 50’s to low 60’s, and we could also see a rumble of thunder in the area.
REGIONAL RADAR
Tomorrow the sun returns with a stiff northwesterly flow. It won’t be blustery, but a stiff breeze will keep things feeling cool combined with upper 50’s as highs. As you can see, even on our cooler days behind fronts, we’re achieving 50’s now. This is the gradual climb I’m talking about and a FAR cry from last April.
Thursday is a carbon copy of tomorrow, minus the stiff breeze. We’ll go for upper 50’s again, but it’ll feel warmer.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
Another system heads into the area for Friday with this active period. We’ll find ourselves in the warm sector of this system, but low pressure won’t be as well north as yesterday’s system. This will equate to another round of rain, mostly cloudy conditions, and mid 60’s. If we get some extra sun into the area, then we’ll make the proper adjustments in which we could possibly see some 70’s.
We’ll try and clear it all out of Saturday and if it does, that’ll be the nicest day of the weekend before more energy swings by on Sunday. Saturday has the potential for a 65-70 degree day with dry conditions, then we’re back into the partial gloom and cool Sunday with 50’s.
In this type of pattern and poorly organized systems, expect last minute adjustments in which we can get surprises on both ends in terms of a warmer and sunnier day than expected; OR a cloudier and cooler day than previously thought.
