NYC Unseasonably Chilly Air Arrives Snow For New England
Good afternoon everyone. We’re updating this afternoon due to some technical difficulties this morning. Cold air is on the move and temperatures have begun to sink into the chilly realm, and the winds have increased as well. Snow is on the way for upper New England and parts up upstate NY as a vigorous wave develops along the Maine coast.
SATELLITE
Temps have dropped into the low 40’s in most of the area, and we still have a few lingering showers around. Some of those showers are mixing with wet snow in NW NJ as everything departs. We’ll drop into the upper 20’s to low 30’s overnight, and winds will continue to howl at 15-25mph sustained, 35mph gusts are possible.
WEATHER RADAR
The wind remains steady tomorrow. but it won’t be as gusty. Near 40 will be the best we do, and more upper 20’s to near 30 overnight. Clouds roll in late tomorrow night, and we could see a few scattered sprinkles and/or flurries for Sunday.
Aside from the very chilly air, the big story is rain changing to snow in areas Albany on north in NY, plus VT, NH, parts of Mass, and Maine. Look for a general 2-4/3-6″ type snowfall, but higher elevations will see a 4-8/6-12″ realm as far as accumulations. Snow comes to an end tomorrow AM, giving some areas their first plowable snow for the season.
