NYC Unseasonably Cold Monday Night Into Tuesday Then Chilly To Comfortable

Good morning everyone. We have some rain heading our way again and that’ll help dwindle down whatever snow we have left on the ground. However, we’re not done with the cold air yet, and we get a taste of that Monday night into Tuesday. Meteorological Spring starts tomorrow, but typically the Northeast gets off to a slow start, and this year will be no different.

For today, look for rain heading in by late morning/midday, and that’ll be with us through the night. We are on the chilly side of the boundary, so expect highs today what you see now (low 40’s), then dropping to the upper 30’s to near 40 as we get towards sunset. We’ll have a cold rain tonight, and temps will hold steady.

Tomorrow, rain sticks around till some time between mid morning and noon. We’ll actually climb back to 45-50 tomorrow, but cold air rushes in by evening again. That’ll also come with some blustery conditions, and we’ll see 15-25mph winds with gusts near 35mph possible. Lows overnight will be unseasonably cold for this time of year as we dip into the upper teens. Add into the mix that we might see some flurries as that arctic blast comes in, and that completes the trifecta of “It’s Not Spring Yet”.

Tuesday will be a cold and breezy one, with the sun not doing much. Highs will remain very cold as we struggle to get out of the low 30’s.

Things modify quickly on Wednesday, and that’s the only sign of Meteorological Spring we have so far. Look for highs near 50 both Wednesday and Thursday with sunshine.

Overall we remain on course towards Spring, but there’s still some cold air left, so don’t be fooled.
