NYC Unseasonably Cool Air Coming Sunday

NYC Unseasonably Cool Air Coming Sunday

Good morning everyone. Not much has changed with the forecast as far as our very warm day today, then a slow transition into unseasonably cool conditions Sunday, onward. We’re watching a few pieces of the puzzle coming together – a vigorous front and low pressure that’ll drop into the Great Lakes region, Tropical Storm Phillipe riding up north ahead of that front, and Canadian high pressure building into the area once everything passes.

These factors will all combine to help usher in the cool air, and keep it in the area for an extended period with only a slight moderation back to seasonal/near-seasonal conditions. In the meantime, we have a very warm day and rainy time Friday & Saturday, which is discussed below.

For today, expect sunshine, light winds, and highs 80-85 depending on your locale. While cooler temps will be felt along the immediate shore, mid 80’s are likely in interior parts of NYC, Long Island, and New Jersey.

We’ll cool off tomorrow as winds switch around from an ESE direction and the cooler waters. Things remain sunny, but we go mild instead of warm with mid to upper 70’s.

WEATHER RADAR

Expect mostly cloudy skies, humid conditions, and on & off showers for Friday. Depending on when those showers start, we could see some mid 70’s; otherwise look for low 70’s if rain starts early.

Saturday is looking cloud and showery as well, but we’ll go even cooler as that front passes through. Highs Saturday in the mid to upper 60’s.

The cool air rushes in on Sunday, with sunshine, breezy conditions, and highs 55-60 at best. Overnight lows will be in the upper 40’s for NYC, which could translate to some upper 30’s to low 40’s away from the City; especially well N&W of NYC and the Pine Barrens of LI.

Cool air continues to have ahold over the area for Columbus Day on Monday, with sun & clouds and highs 55-60 again.
