NYC Very Quiet Hot Conditions Possible & Watching Fiona
Good evening everyone. We have some really beautiful weather here as promised today through Saturday, then very warm to hot conditions return Sunday and Monday. We’ll be watching the fronts closely, plus the position and timing of high pressure mid-week next week to see what kid of influence (positive or negative) it has on what-will-be Hurricane Fiona.
SATELLITE
Low to mid 70’s was the best we did today, but we had full sunshine and really nice conditions. We should’ve had at least one day like this during mid-summer or around Labor Day, but had to wait for it a long time. Lows tonight will be very comfortable and great sleeping weather as we dip into the low to mid 50’s. Some areas upstate could see some upper 40’s to near 50 as lows.
Tomorrow we repeat the nice stuff, but bump the temps up to a very seasonable mid to upper 70’s.
WEATHER RADAR
Saturday is another winner with highs near 80, however, very warm to hot temps return on Sunday. For the past couple of weeks, I said we may not be done with 90 yet, and Sunday or Monday might ring true. Expect highs in the upper 80’s to near 90 on Sunday. Best chance to hit 90 will be just west of the City in NJ. We’ll have AM sun Monday, then clouds and sun in the afternoon. It’ll feel hotter with more humid conditions and upper 80’s to near 90 again.
A cold front will cross the area Monday night into some time on Tuesday and we return to reality with upper 70’s to low 80’s.
In the tropics we have Tropical Storm Fiona which is encountering some wind shear as the main area of convection is west of the lower circulation. Eventually this will change and allow Fiona to gather some strength as she heads WNW. As of now, the models are all over the place, with the Euro and Canadian taking her into Florida, and the GFS taking her well out to sea. Right now it is way too early to tell how this is going to go down, especially since we have to wait and see what the key places are going to do and where they will be as far as steering currents.
Stay tuned and if I feel we can sound the “all-clear” I will do so, but right now I’m not comfortable doing that.
