NYC Weak Coastal System Brings Cold Rain Possible Sleet & Raw Day

Good morning everyone and happy Sunday. We have a nasty one today and the best bet is to stay indoors & make some hot chocolate. Things improve starting tomorrow, and we have a fairly quiet week ahead weather-wise.

We are socked in with the clouds and raw conditions today as weak low pressure scoots to our south. As I said yesterday, it’s too weak to pull enough cold air down to keep things snow at the coast, but you could see some sleet pellets and wet flakes mixed in with the cold rain; especially during the onset this morning and just before everything exits overnight. Expect 0 accumulation or icing out of this at the coast, but interior sections of NY and NW NJ will see a generally light 1-3/2-4″ snowfall depending on your elevation. Highs today in the NYC metro area will hover in the upper 30’s.

Tomorrow we improve with some AM blue patches, then PM sunshine. It’ll be generally comfortable and dry with highs in the low to mid 40’s. As the week goes on, we are looking at quiet conditions and similar low to mid 40 highs.

Our next shot of any precip looks to be next weekend (if it happens at all), with another weak area of low pressure passing near or over the area. We’ll be keeping an eye on it, but as of now it doesn’t look like anything noteworthy to waste time on it 6 days out. If anything changes, we’ll let you know.
