NYC Sunny Breezy Mild Day Today Raw Winter Day Tomorrow
Good morning everyone. We have a beautiful but breezy/windy day today, then typical NY winter returns tomorrow as a weak coastal system passes by to our south. It’ll be too weak to pull enough cold air down and make everything snow, but it’ll be just enough to keep things feeling raw with a few wet flakes possible too.
SATELLITE
We start off sunny today, then increase the clouds gradually as we get towards evening/nighttime. It’ll be a breezy one, with westerlies 10-20mph and gusts to 25-35. Highs today will be in the upper 40’s to low 50’s.
Our next system heads in tomorrow in the form of a weak coastal system scooting by quickly to our south. The positioning is “correct”, but the system is too weak to pull enough cold air down to keep things all snow. Expect a cold rain late morning, onward, and we could see some wet flakes & sleet mixed in upon the onset and exit; especially in Manhattan, the north shore of Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk.
Other than that, this is a mostly rain event and a cold rain at that. NE winds will keep things feeling raw as we get into the upper 30’s to maybe 40.
Up in the Bronx where the rain/snow line will be just to your north, you could see some more mixing at times, and even a brief period of wet snow. Away from the City, spots in higher elevations will see a general 1-3/2-4″ type snowfall, a light event.
We clear out to start the week, and temps will be slightly above average but nothing extreme. Expect sunny skies and highs in the low to mid 40’s essentially Monday through Friday.
