NYC Wind Whipped Thursday Friday Nice Weekend Ahead
Good windy morning everyone. After a brief wild night with heavy rain and strong winds, we get the rain out of here but keep the winds. Low pressure continues to spin up in New England and peak in intensity before it slowly moves on out. High Wind Warnings are in effect throughout the area, and we won’t get rid of the blustery conditions until late tomorrow; although we will slowly dial it down with time.
REGIONAL RADAR
After the chance of a few morning sprinkles that may survive the trip down-state, we’ll have partial clearing throughout the day and highs in the upper 50’s to low 60’s. The big story will be the wind with those high wind warnings in place. Expect WNW winds sustained at 15-25mph and gusts in the 50+ realm at times.
Overnight, we’ll scale back those gusts to 30-35, but it remains windy.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
Tomorrow, sunny skies rule with upper 50’s to low 60’s again, and we again slowly turn down the wind machine. Look for NW winds sustained at 10-15 for a steady flow, but we could still see gusts in the 20-25 class. Finally we begin to turn things off overnight tomorrow, and that’ll make way for a nice weekend.
The sun will continue to shine both Saturday and Sunday with highs in the low 60’s Saturday, then mid to upper 60’s Sunday.
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
Tomorrow, we will peek into next week, but the long range continues to looks interesting. If all goes as initially thought, we could have our first brisk Halloween we’ve had in quite some time. Unseasonably cool to cold temps are entirely possible at the very end of October/early November, but we have to see if that prospect holds together. There’s a lot of room for error here and confidence isn’t high enough for me to throw out a Hail-Mary just yet.
