NYC WINTERS END NIGH
Good morning everyone. The band is gathering to give winter a New Orlean’s sendoff as things are not looking good for snow lovers. Is there cold weather left? Yes. Can we see flakes? Yes. However, the clock is starting to tick very fast considering the snow-hostile pattern we’ve had all winter, keeps NYC locked in a Boston Crab, Figure Four, Million Dollar Dream, or whatever wrestling euphemism you’d like to fit in there.
EASTERN SATELLITE
Early morning clouds and fog will give way to late morning sun; probably enough sun to pull off some 60 to low 60 readings in some areas, especially in downtown Brooklyn, Central Queens, and parts of Nassau County.
Overnight, a reinforcing shot of cooler air moves in and shuts down our thaw for a little while. We’ll dip down into the upper 20’s to low 30’s, then rise into the upper 30’s to low 40’s with the slight chance of some afternoon showers tomorrow. The real rain moves in tomorrow night and it’ll be a cold rain as lows drop slightly into the mid 30’s. Plenty of arm air aloft will keep precip from becoming frozen.
REGIONAL RADAR
Rainy and raw conditions continue for at least Thursday morning, then just raw conditions remain. Expect an easterly fetch and mid 40’s for Thursday, making things perfect for a good soup day; specifically some Manhattan clam chowder with oyster crackers. The chance of rain returns once again Thursday night and into Friday morning/early afternoon. We’ll go for upper 40’s to low 50’s Friday, but it’s front-related and brief as seasonably cold weather returns for the weekend.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
Average to near-average temps settle back in for Saturday, erasing the beautiful weather we experienced this week. However, things will be quiet and calm. Expect mid to upper 30’s both Saturday and Sunday with sunny conditions, then upper 30’s to low 40’s to start next week.
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA

Our pattern overall remains very snow hostile. Plenty of cold air remains available, but it’ll be near-impossible to pull off an all-out snowstorm in the NYC area as systems continue westerly approaches.
This brings us into the last week of February and from what I see, we could have another cold shot to end it, but the backside of that cold shot could put the nails in the coffin for winter. Can we have a surprise or March blizzard? Of course, anything is possible, look at last year; but things are looking very grim for those who love winter aside from that Cinderella-story chance.
