TEMPERATURE IN NYC AT MIDNIGHT SATURDAY NIGHT WHEN THE NEW YEAR ARRIVES
OFFICIAL NYC NEW YEARS FORECAST – Good morning everyone and you’re tuning into the official New York City, New Year’s Eve/Day forecast. Briefly, we’ll discuss the current situation and the weather for today. The powerful but quick moving low pressure is moving well up into Maine and sending down some cold weather our way. Temps will drop through the 30’s tonight and with roads still wet, please watch out for some black ice until late morning. Skies will be mostly to partly cloudy throughout the day, with a slight chance of a widely scattered snow/rain squall here and there, highs near 40 and blustery. Tonight’s going to be a cold one, with the wind still in play and temps going down to the mid to upper 20’s.
On Saturday, we’ll have sunny skies until mid afternoon, then clouds begin to increase as a weak frontal boundary begins to enter the picture. Winds will increase Saturday night for New Years Eve and we may see some scattered light showers/snow showers from very late in the evening until a few hours after midnight. For those looking to celebrate at Times Square, you should be fine as long as you dress properly, lows will be in the upper 30’s. Sunday will be a beautiful day as clouds give way to sun, highs in the mid 40’s. Stay tuned for my long range forecast on Sunday, which may have some interesting developments down the road before returning to the pattern we are mostly locked into.
OFFICIAL NYC NEW YEARS FORECAST – Satellite and NE quadrant radar shows a compact low pressure system moving out of the area. Leaving behind colder air and some snow squalls. We may see a few of these cross the area tomorrow, but nothing significant.
Local radar is quiet, but we’ll keep an eye on anything sneaking in tomorrow in the scattered variety.
