PATTERN CHANGES ARENT FOREVER – Good morning everyone. While those who love cold and snow are getting excited for the big changes and possibilities ahead, it’s important to remember that this is not a lock for the entire season. As of now, all signs point to an approximate 2 week block of unseasonably cold weather starting at the end of next week. This will include several opportunities for some frozen precip depending on the track and strength of several possible systems as this cold air is in place.
Seeing snow in our area during this period is not written in stone, but the next 2 weeks will provide us with our first opportunity for the season so far. The cold air itself is essentially a forgone conclusion, but anything beyond what it brings, is purely speculation.
Now for the “bad news” to those who are looking forward to this pattern change. Unless anything changes and the pattern snaps back, the blocking pattern bringing us the cold air doesn’t seem to last beyond 2-3 weeks. This doesn’t necessarily mean a return to unseasonably mild weather, but maybe a relaxing of the arctic air being pumped down from Canada until the next opportunity builds up.
In the end, we’ll be watching everything closely and hone in on how we enter winter and the holiday season.
