POLAR AIR READYING TO TWIST SOME SCREWS – Good morning everyone and welcome to arctic shot number 2; but just when you think it couldn’t get any colder, the polar express says, “no, I’m just getting started.”
More brutal air has rushed in overnight on the heels of yesterday’s light snow event. Mid to upper teens as highs and single digits at night, will be with us until Tuesday. Then, we’ll “modify” into the lower 20’s Tuesday and might even reach 30 on Wednesday.
The time to celebrate will be short though as even colder air will be set to move in. There’s a lot of talk about a big storm for Thursday, but as of now I continue to have my doubts due to cold air winning out. We’ll have to keep a close eye on it, because some areas could receive a glancing blow. Either way though, this system will be a function of this cold air and will help pull it in.
Friday into next weekend, teens as highs return, and we could see temps near 0° as lows. This is pretty much as cold as we get around these parts, so take the arctic air seriously, and take whatever precautions you need to protect your house, pets, children, and yourselves.
Signs continue to show that we could catch a brief break in the 2nd 1/3 of January, but cold air looks to push back in a big way.
