POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS NYC COMMUTE THURSDAY
POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS NYC COMMUTE THURSDAY – Good late morning everyone. Earlier, I posted my early call snow map, which seems to be holding steady as of now. Models are becoming more in agreement as to what is going to happen for early Thursday and into Thursday afternoon. That being said, there will be fine-tuning to be done as we creep closer to the snow system and we still have to wait for today and tomorrow’s system to pass.
As of this moment, a potentially dangerous commute is brewing for Thursday. No, this is not “Snowmageddon” or anything record breaking. However, the extreme plunge in temperatures after a rainy and mild Wednesday, will make for situation in which we will have a layer of black ice as any standing water/slick roads will freeze; then a layer of heavy wet snow, and then a powdery snow as the lower layer of the atmosphere cools down. This will make for very dangerous travel conditions even after this system departs.
