RAINY NYC AFTERNOON HIGH ELEVATION SNOW
Good late morning everyone. Rain is starting to march towards the NYC area and the Northeast. Meanwhile, relatively cold air locked in will help make it a raw day down here, and help give the Adirondack’s and Green Mountain range some snow.
EASTERN SATELLITE
Rain will start heading in soon. For the most part, we’re not looking at anything extreme, just on and off showery conditions; then some steadier rain late evening and overnight. Overall, we should probably squeeze out about an inch from this system. Highs a raw low to mid 40’s.
The same system will bring some snow to higher elevations well upstate in the Adirondacks and into the Green & White mountains of New England as cold air digs its heels in. This is very common in April, and will help create a picturesque landscape as we pivot into mid-spring with some snow-capped mountains.
Downstate, cold air may get trapped in some of the valleys of the Catskills, causing some mixing before everything changes to rain and or mostly rain with globs of mush.
REGIONAL RADAR
Rain ends by early tomorrow, then partial clearing will ensue. I’d say by late  morning/early afternoon, we introduce some sun into the area and we go well into the 60’s. A light northwesterly flow will create some sinking, rapidly warming air and all the way to the coast. Expect highs in the mid 60’s for most locales.
Sunday is looking 100% dry and pleasant. Be on the lookout of increasing clouds late, but I think we remain sunny for most of the day; highs in the low to mid 60’s.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
Another system heads in by late Sunday night/Monday morning, giving us a soaker for most of Monday. This time around, cold air won’t be as stubborn, so it won’t be as raw like today. Expect on and off rain, with upper 50’s to near 60.
We’ll start the clearing process again on Tuesday with seasonably cool conditions, then await for yet another system Thursday or Friday.
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
At this point, I don’t see us breaking out of this pattern until maybe late April. Expect showery conditions every 3-5 days and again, nothing extreme temp-wise on either end of the spectrum. No early April 80’s and today is just about as cold as we get for daytime temps.
