Rainy Windy Thundery Mild NYC Tomorrow

Good morning everyone. We have a beautiful, sunny start to our Easter Sunday today, and we should be able to squeeze out one last nice one before rain and wind return late overnight tonight and into tomorrow.

SATELLITE

A large system is chugging east today and in our general direction, bringing severe weather to parts of the lower Midwest and then into the Southeast. Down there, expect parts of the region to experience lines of severe thunderstorms, with large hail and tornados possible.

For us, we won’t be seeing that level of action, but clouds will increase for us today as everything pushes east. Highs today will be in the 60-65 realm for an overall nice day.

REGIONAL RADAR

storm free

Overnight tonight, we’ll have a batch a moderate to heavy rain enter the Northeast. Most of it will go well to our north and east, but we might find ourselves on the southern edge of that batch. Expect on and off moderate to heavy showers just before sunrise as winds begin to increase from the SE, then south.

Tomorrow will be outright windy, especially for those along south facing shores of the City and Long Island. The southerly fetch will be strong ahead of that cold front, producing 25-35mph sustained winds, and gusts to near 60, especially during the brief, squally showers.

As the cold front approaches, we could see some rumbles, but for the most part tomorrow, expect on and off brief, heavy, gusty showers. Highs a humid 65-70, cooler along the immediate shore.

LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY

Things will clear up Tuesday with seasonal temps and highs in the 55-60 range, then a reinforcing shot of cool air will give us a very cool day on Wednesday with clouds and sun. Highs Wednesday may reach 50 if we’re lucky.

Thursday and Friday, we modify a bit back into the mid 50’s, then we might see seasonable near 60 temps for next Saturday and Sunday.

LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA

As our fast moving pattern continues, it remains hard to string together any mild days. Expect seasonal to seasonably cool air to dominate, with maybe a mild day or two ahead of these fast moving fronts.
