SEASONAL NYC SPRING START TOMORROW RAIN ARRIVES THURSDAY
Good morning everyone! Spring arrives tomorrow in the NYC area with little fanfare in either direction. Meanwhile, we have a little bit of rain coming in for Thursday, and the weekend is looking like a cool/mild split.
EASTERN SATELLITE
Today, we’ll have a sunny start, then clouds and sun; highs in the upper 40 range. Depending on what data you mine, the average high here is anywhere from 48-51 degrees for this time of year; so we’ll categorize it as “seasonably cool”.
For our first day of Spring tomorrow, we’re looking very nice, seasonal, and uneventful. Sunny skies, light winds, and dry conditions will rule; highs in the low 50’s. As stated yesterday, clouds increase overnight tomorrow with the arrival of our next system.
REGIONAL RADAR
On Thursday, no major snowstorms are expected even though the setup looks nice on some models. We’re beginning late March now and you’d need some seriously cold air, perfect timing, and a perfect path to make that work; and it ain’t happenin’….
Expect some late morning to early afternoon rain, highs in the low 50’s. Rain continues on and off throughout the day and possibly into late evening. Total rainfall will probably range around .50 -.75 of an inch in most spots.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
On Friday, we clear out and bring back the sun. It’s looking like a breezy, seasonal day with highs in the low 50’s.
Sunny skies and dry weather continues for the weekend, but we start off cool on Saturday with upper 40’s. As of now, Sunday is looking milder, but the timing of mild air and the departure of cool air, will prohibit us from going well into the 60’s. Regardless, it’s looking like a beautiful day with highs in the 55-60 range for the moment.
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA

We start next week on a mild note with near 60 or 60’s possible on Monday. Then we begin to watch our next system, which typically means another cool shot is in the works some time mid-week.
“Typical” and “Seasonal” remain to be the key words to describe our March as we say goodbye to winter, hello to spring, and begin our trek towards April. At this point, any sites calling for full-fledged snowstorms have now transitioned from holding onto hope, grasping at straws, and into full madness-mode.
MANY THANKS TO TROPICAL TIDBITS FOR THE USE OF MAPS
