RAINY MARCHY NYC THURSDAY AHEAD

Good morning everyone. The massive Nor’Easter expected for the NYC area has been cancelled, as well as the snowstorm, and next week’s snowstorm too (note the sarcasm). We’re in for just a plain rainy day tomorrow after a gorgeous day today. Aside from that, the only hazards around will be a windy Friday and a breezy Saturday, before we enjoy another beautiful day Sunday. In other words, March is being March in New York City & Long Island.

EASTERN SATELLITE

We’ll have a sunny day with light winds today, highs in the low 50’s as we say hello to Spring and goodbye to Winter. Overnight, clouds increase as winds go southeast; a sign that our low pressure system will run inland or almost on top of us.

REGIONAL RADAR

For tomorrow, expect rain moving in between 11am and 2pm; then rain will be with us probably till around midnight or just after. It’s just a rainy day folks, not a Nor’Easter. Due to the full moon, we could see one cycle of minor flooding Thursday , but that’ll be confined to the marshes and maybe some water lapping up against the bulkheads. Highs tomorrow near 50.

LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY

We’ll have the slight chance of a shower as everything departs Friday, then the wind kicks in. We’re not talking 60mph gusts here, but more like a 15-20mph stiff wind here with some 30-40mph gusts. Highs Friday near 50 again.

As expected the last couple of days, cooler air is delayed, but works its way in for Saturday. The wind machine will continue for a breezy day Saturday, and combined with mid 40’s, it’ll feel cold. However, it doesn’t last long as we bounce back quickly for a gorgeous day on Sunday. Look for winds calming down, sunny skies, and a mild 55-60 in most areas.

With another system approaching Monday, expect one more mild day before we get some rain and a predictable cool-down. It looks as if we’re starting to resume that rainy pattern I’ve been looking for and talked about in my March outlook in February, it just took several more days to get going. Nothing crazy, but the system parade resumes and it looks as if rain will make it into the area every 3-5 days without completely fizzling out.

Oh, and I’m going to go ahead and cancel next week’s major snowpocalypse that social media was talking about.
