SPRING OPENING SHOW BEFORE NYC SUMMER TAKES STAGE
SPRING OPENING SHOW BEFORE NYC SUMMER TAKES STAGE – Good morning everyone! We have a beautiful week ahead with a decent size chunk of spring weather, but as discussed for the past week or so, the summer warmth wants to return to New York City in a big way; and it will.
Today, we slowly climb out of yesterday’s funk as two areas of disturbed weather begin to pull away slowly. We’ll have clouds and sun, a light NNE wind, and highs in the upper 60’s to low 70’s. Look for a repeat tomorrow, with more sun, but peak highs a degree ow two cooler due to an east wind; highs 65-70 in most areas.
On Wednesday, we could rebound into the mid to upper 70’s due to an approaching weak disturbance, then we cool off back into the low 70’s with the chance of a few showers on Thursday. As of now, it looks like we end the week on a sunny note, with clearing skies and upper 60’s to low 70’s Friday.
For Mother’s Day weekend, we begin to warm up a notch. Expect clouds and sun both days, with highs in the low to mid 70’s on Saturday; then a possible warm push begins on Mother’s Day with 80-85 possible.
I’m going to remain conservative and not make the call on that yet, because we have to wait and see if the maritime cool-push wins out for that day specifically. However, even if the very warm air doesn’t win out for Mother’s Day, it’s going to win out eventually that week. Look for 80’s to return to the area, possibly even a touch warmer, for mid-May. The summer-like weather, including a few humid days thrown in there, also has the potential to stick around for a while in a possible 7-10+ day block.
