STEADY RAIN BATCH DEPARTS MORE RAIN EXPECTED

STEADY RAIN BATCH DEPARTS MORE RAIN EXPECTED – Good rainy morning everyone! As expected, rain is with us for the morning rush hour, but will become more of the scattered variety today before more energy moves into the area with the help of a frontal boundary. Southeast winds, clouds, and showers will only allow temps to reach the low to mid 60’s and we could have a few rumbles of thunder and heavier showers this afternoon.

As we get into summer, systems typically slow down when it comes to transiting the Nation. The problem we have this week, is slow movement and several systems. This will give us generally a mostly cloudy to cloudy week, with periods of showers possible all week, plus periods of steadier rain mixed in. Tomorrow, we’re looking at mostly cloudy skies, chance of a shower or two, and highs near 70. If we can get some more sun, we’ll be able to notch a few more degrees onto the highs. Wednesday will be mostly cloudy also, with a better chance of a few showers, but no big rain-out expected, highs again near 70. On Thursday we have a better shot at some steadier showers throughout the day, 65-70.

Big questions remain for the holiday weekend. Yesterday, the models were showing a dry, sunny, and warm weekend, but I was skeptical due to placement of high pressure as well as an approaching system on Friday. Today I remain skeptical as I think we could get some showers and storms in here on Friday, and the speed of the system may become an issue. It is possible we could be dry over the weekend, but I question as to how sunny and warm it could be. In the end, don’t cancel any plans as of now, but stay tuned because I want to see if this system fully clears out Friday night and look at the timing of some energy in the area Monday/Tuesday.
