TROPICAL NYC DAY TODAY FLOODING ISSUES INLAND – Good late morning everyone. We have a mostly sunny start today in New York City as tropical, Florida skies and mugginess dominate the area. Meanwhile, the sun has re-energized our upper level low, which is creating havoc in areas of upstate/western New York, as well as northeast/central Pennsylvania.

NYC DRY START BUT…..

Even though we have a sunny start today and the heaviest of rain is well to our west and north, low pressure drifting out of the picture will create enough lift in front of it to pop off some heavy showers and storms. We’ll have to wait and see where they pop-off, but those who do see action could see some torrential rain, gusty winds, frequent lightning, and localized flooding. As of now, we have a decent shot, but just like the last few days and the patterns prior, not everyone will see action all at once or at all.

After a lingering chance of storms tonight, we go into the pizza oven for the next 3 days. Expect sunny and hot conditions tomorrow and Thursday, highs 90-95. Then, we go for 90’s again for Friday, but add in the chance of a thunderstorm.

For the weekend, Saturday continues to look very warm but not as hot as the week. Look for mid to upper 80’s Saturday with variable cloudiness, then sun and clouds Sunday and low to mid 80’s.

Early next week continues to give us some front-related heat for Tuesday depending on the timing of our cold front; and our first brief shot at some comfortable air at night and seasonable temps during the day mid-week next week. In the long range though, heat wants to return once again for some possible near 90 temps late month.

For your marine forecast, local sea breezes will keep things a little choppy for the next 5-7 days. Use caution going out into smooth morning inlets, because you may not have the same type of return heading back to port. Know your boat, know your capabilities, and know your local waters.
