TROPICAL STORM CINDY REMNANTS PLAY NYC WEEKEND FACTOR – Good early morning everyone! As promised, day 3 of a beautiful block of weather is unfolding before our eyes. Today’s sunrise will give way to a warm, sunny, and comfortable day with seasonable highs in the low to mid 80’s. Overnight, clouds will increase with the approach of a frontal system.

Unfortunately for us, the timing of the system couldn’t be any worse. Tropical moisture associated with the remnants of Tropical Storm Cindy will interact with the system and help enhance it, giving us an increased chance of showers and storms Friday into Saturday.

TROPICAL STORM CINDY REMNANTS PLAY NYC WEEKEND FACTOR

On Friday, we’ll have a warm and soupy day, with the chance of scattered showers and storms throughout the day, highs in the low 80’s. Any showers and storms that do develop in the area, will give us a tropical-like rain and breeze. Some storms, especially Friday night into Saturday morning, could reach severe limits, but the primary threat will be heavy rain, localized flooding, gusty winds, and brief/weak isolated tornadoes. Timing will be key, because it’s possible that the frontal system responsible for bringing Cindy’s energy into the area, could also suppress it slightly further south of us, giving central and southern New Jersey most of the action. Either way, any showers and storms that do develop on Saturday, should clear on out by late afternoon/early evening. Highs on Saturday will again be a muggy mid 80’s, tropical type day.

We clear out Saturday night for a beautiful late evening and even better Sunday, with sunny skies, low humidity and highs in the low to mid 80’s. I’ll be keeping an eye on all of this and will give an update Saturday morning to see where we stand for the rest of the weekend frame by frame.

A cold front enters the picture in the upper midwest as Tropical Storm Cindy heads on shore. The front and its impeccable timing, will help bring the remnants of Cindy’s energy our way.

Northeast Radar

storm freeRadar is quiet aside from a small cluster of thundershowers in extreme southwest PA, but the radar will get very busy by tomorrow. The threat of showers and strong thunderstorms will be with us by tomorrow late morning all the way to Saturday afternoon.
