Unseasonably Cold Nights Expected This Week
Good morning everyone. As we progress towards mid-spring, we have some good news and bad news. The good news is that we take a little break from widespread severe weather for a few days. The bad news as that unseasonably cool air has draped itself across parts of the Central States and Northeast, which will make for some unseasonably cold nights.
Dry but chilly air has pushed the rain and gloom out of the way, giving the Northeast some sunshine until Wednesday; as our next cold front will reinforce that chilly air and give us another chilly night Wednesday night. That cold front will touch off a narrow line of strong thunderstorms from western New York, tailing all the way down into possibly Oklahoma. While there could be some severe weather, we are not expecting the action to be on the level we saw over the past couple of weeks.
The big story remains the frost and freeze warnings across much of the Central States and parts of the Northeast. Freeze warnings are posted for tonight parts of Pennsylvania, Ohio, down the Appalachians, and a few bits of the Catskills. Frost advisories are posted almost everywhere else in the region, which includes Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and parts of the Northeast, including most of New Jersey.
Expect those frost and freeze warnings to be reposted overnight Wednesday as that cold front will dip temperatures down into the mid to upper 30’s even in “heat islands” such as New York City; so you can imagine how unseasonably cold it’ll be away from the big cities.
