WARM TEMPS CONTINUE COOL PUSH DEFINITE
WARM TEMPS CONTINUE COOL PUSH DEFINITE
WARM TEMPS CONTINUE COOL PUSH DEFINITE – Good morning everyone! Warm air continues in the NYC area in variating levels, but cool air is on schedule and expected to make a push late next week.
Today will be one of the warmer days of summer’s last gasp. We should be in the low 80’s today for most of the area, but we could see a few mid 80’s pop in some of the more notoriously warmer areas of inland Brooklyn and Queens. In the same respect, we will probably see slightly cooler temps along the immediate shore due to the cool ocean water. Look for mid to upper 70’s in these areas.
Tomorrow, a weak disturbance passes by, giving us sun and clouds and the threat of a few widely scattered showers. The sun is a very important ingredient this time of year in order to achieve above average temps, so expect tomorrow to be slightly cooler than today, with highs 75-80 in most areas.
On Saturday, we get a little bit more sun and slightly more humid. If we get the right amount of sunshine, we could achieve low 80’s again, with slightly warmer temps scattered about, and cooler temps along the shore just like today. For the second half of the weekend, thicker clouds return for Sunday and so does the chance of a shower. This will help lower temps again, but we remain well above normal with 75-80° readings once again.
Monday and Tuesday will gives us the best chance of rain we’ve seen in a while, but it still remains to be seen how that chance plays out. We need to wait and see where tropical moisture/remnants of our next tropical system goes after affecting the Gulf coast. Either way, this will help notch up the humidity a bit, and we should continue our 75-80° block.
The sun looks to return for Wednesday, with one more day of mid 70’s before the cool push begins. Thursday onward will most likely bring us back to normal/slightly below normal, with highs in the mid 60’s for a long stretch. Crisp air at night may be enough to give us our first frost and get the ragweed pollen out of the air for good, giving relief to allergy sufferers.
In the long range, warm air looks to build back into the Midwest, but it doesn’t look warm enough to give us another very warm period on the east coast as of now. Just as cold air modifies quickly in late March when it tries to push in, warm air does the same in late October.
Stay tuned, but the gears of Fall are finally starting to slowly turn.
