AFTERNOON NYC SUNSHINE EXPECTED
AFTERNOON NYC SUNSHINE EXPECTED – Good morning everyone. As expected, an upper level area of low pressure is heading out from the Great Lakes region and heading to our north a state it exits the area. Clouds will give way to sunshine from southwest to northeast, the we’ll wait and see where any isolated, popcorn-type storms pop up as the sun works the atmosphere in conjunction with the low. Highs today will be near 80 in the NYC area, and 75-80 elsewhere.
Any isolated storms that do pop up, will have the capability of producing brief torrential downpours, gusty winds, and small hail. With cold air aloft with the influence of upper level low pressure, it won’t take much to produce hail. Plus, if any of the storms survive over the LI sound, don’t be surprised to see a water spout. Remember, most of the energy is going to our north, so most of the isolated storms will be to our north as well, but one or two could sneak in down here.
Tomorrow will be sunny and comfortable, highs near 80. Then we warm up a bit for Thursday before heat and humidity return in a big way for Friday and the weekend.
As far as the marine forecast is concerned, tomorrow will be the best day for those who like to go offshore. Light westerly winds will lay the ocean down to 2ft seas before building again tomorrow evening. After that, it’ll be best to stay on the inside of the bay, especially those with smaller boats. Thursday and Friday, we will have 3-6/5-8ft seas, then settle down to a typical 2-4ft sea for Saturday. If you’re off tomorrow, hit the local reefs if you can before things detiorate for the rest of the week.
