BLIZZARD WARNINGS NEARING NYC AREA – Good afternoon everyone and a quick update as things unfold. Yesterday I spoke of possible blizzard warnings going up and this morning I spoke of near-blizzard conditions possible. The time has come in which blizzard warnings needed to be posted for Suffolk County Long Island. The way things are trending, it is possible we may see these blizzard warnings spread westward into the NYC area. At this point, even without the warnings, the NYC area will see near-blizzard conditions at the peak of the storm. Below is an updated snow map to reflect the fine tuning involved as we watch this vigorous system transit the Ohio Valley.

Snow will start and become very heavy before sunrise, piling up very quickly before this quick moving snowstorm’s exit. Expect near whiteout conditions, fast accumulating snows, wind gusts at or beyond 40mph, and sharp drops in temperature.
