NYC HEAVY SNOW 2017 BLIZZARD UNDERWAY

NYC HEAVY SNOW 2017 BLIZZARD UNDERWAY – Good morning everyone and welcome to The Blizzard of 2017! Things are underway and as mentioned yesterday, we’d have to wait to see the final structure of the storm in order to see who would get the heaviest of snow. Blizzard warnings have crept westward into Nassau County and don’t be surprised if NYC falls under it last minute as conditions unfold. At this point, even if NYC doesn’t get a blizzard warning, you will experience blizzard-like conditions at times. Heavy snow and wrong winds have spread across the majority of the area and will continue to come down at a fierce pace until late morning to early afternoon.

NYC HEAVY SNOW 2017 BLIZZARD UNDERWAY

Here is the final call in terms of snow accumulation based on the radar, structure, and final path of The Blizzard of 2017. There will be times, especially during episodes of thundersnow, that snow may fall at rates of 4-6″ per hour. Otherwise, we will see a general 1-3″ per hour snowfall rate.

***Everyone please be safe and use caution when clearing snow. Wear plenty of layers and do your cleanup in piece-meal. Do not attempt to remove all of this snow at once.***

When the storm departs, it will leave behind a frigid night and an unseasonably cold Friday, with highs in the low 30’s. Beyond that, I want to wait till the storm departs so I can take a good look to see what the jet stream is doing and how our snow pack will impact the rest of the week.

I hope everyone enjoyed the forecast and happy with the results; as well as accuracy from the moment we began to see the system on our radar, all the way up to this moment. Have a great day and be safe!
