CAUTIOUS FORECAST APPROACH WITH NYC MILD AIR
Good morning everyone. Today is the last chilly day of the 2 day bunch here in the NYC area, then we begin to introduce milder air into the region. A word of caution though, since this is front related, we need to keep all possibilities on the table in terms of how mild we go, especially Saturday.
EASTERN SATELLITE
Even though we’ll remain in the mid to upper 40’s like yesterday, today will feel a tad warmer on the skin with much lighter winds. The March sun is strong, so it’ll do its work today and make things feel more tolerable.
REGIONAL RADAR
Tomorrow, we break into the 50’s, but clouds will increase late as that slow moving system crawls our way. Expect things to be in the 55-60 range (warmest in downtown Brooklyn & central Queens), slightly cooler on the south facing shores with a southerly fetch developing off of the cold water.
On Friday, we take those clouds into consideration, as well as the front getting closer (slowly). That’ll help pump even milder air into the area, but more clouds than sun will hold things in the mid to upper 60’s. Again, we keep things cooler along the south facing shores. Also, if clouds are more of a nuisance, we could knock a few degrees off the top of those highs.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
For Saturday, we remain cautious as to how warm we can go with this. Our front begins to enter the scope and it does keep milder air pumping into the area, but cloud-cover will be the deciding factor here. For now, I remain in the 65-70 club, but the potential is there for warmer readings if some extra sun makes an appearance. We still remain cooler along the south facing shores.
Also, just a reminder to our Long Island readers here, the south shores of Suffolk, as well as the Forks, are always much cooler this time of year. Don’t be surprised to remain in 50’s in most spots way out there. Remember, the east end juts-out into the cold Atlantic.
On Sunday, the scattered showers arrive as well as the front. For the moment, I’m going with 55-60 degree temps unless things slow down, and those highs may be earlier in the day. I’ll keeping a close eye on it all and watch for the changes if any.
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
Into next week, a wave of low pressure tries to form along Sunday’s old front along the Gulf or Southeast. The snowstorm talk has begun again, but we’re too far out and models will change as they have all season. As of now, I’m not concerned and things remain looking seasonal.
