CLOUDY NYC AFTERNOON VISIBLE SUNSET POSSIBLE – Good afternoon everyone! Today ended up being more cloudy and cooler than expected as a piece of energy was left behind with the front that passed yesterday evening. Unfortunately, clouds and a few scattered light showers will remain in the area for a few more hours, where we may get some sun before sunset. A cool northeast wind will persist for the rest of the day and overnight; highs are pretty much where they’re at right now in the low 60’s.
Gloom continues all week, with the system in the midwest having a tough time clearing the area. There won’t be any rainouts, but we’ll pretty much be in and out of clouds and showers all week. If we can squeeze out some sun, we’ll be in the normal realm as far as temps, but if clouds linger all day, expect mid to upper 60’s all week.
As far as Memorial Day Weekend is concerned, there are hints that warm air will try and make a push for the holiday weekend, but we have to be cautious and wait and see if this system can clear out and make way for some warmer and drier air. At this point, I’d put the chance of a nice and warm holiday weekend at 60%.
