Comfortable Spring Stretch For New York City Area
Good morning everyone. We have some morning low/mid layer clouds here in the NYC area if you’re waking up early, but the sun shall return unlike 2 weeks ago. We have a fairly comfortable stretch building up as we bob and weave through night-time and early morning raindrops for the next 7 days or so. Memorial Day Weekend is holding up, but we’ll be maneuvering around some of that rain and timing will be key.
SATELLITE
For today, these clouds will exit over the course of the next several hours. Expect a breezy and comfortable day, with low humidity and upper 60’s to low 70’s as highs in most places. We dial down the wind tomorrow, with 70-75 degree temps and continuing low humidity, dry, and sunny.
Thursday will be one of those days we walk between raindrops. We’ll have a slight chance of showers mid morning to early afternoon with some energy associated with a cold front coming down from across the Great Lakes. We’ll still have sun and clouds but it won’t be a gloomy day though; highs 70-75 again. That front will make a full pass and it’ll take its time, so expect possibly another round of scattered showers overnight. That’ll help clear the path for Friday.
REGIONAL RADAR
For our entrance into Memorial Day Weekend, we continue to look very good. We may have some morning clouds, but Friday overall is looking like a sunny and very mild day with highs in the 75-80 realm.
On Saturday, we begin that dance again in between systems. Expect a sunny start, then sun and clouds as clouds increase with another system approaching. At this moment, I continue to think we get it out of here overnight Saturday, with the chance of some scattered showers. Highs 70-75.
Sunday looks to be the best day of the weekend if the timing works out, with decreasing clouds, increasing sunshine, and highs in upper 70’s to low 80’s. However, we could get another round of energy slipping down from the Great Lakes again Sunday night.
For the moment, many outlets are calling for a sunny Memorial Day on Monday with no issues. They may be right, but I’m going to hold off for now until I see what the next wave does. If the next wave of energy materializes (it might not), the timing could be iffy as far as getting a perfect day throughout. We could start off with some morning to early afternoon showers, then clearing late.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
As stated before, we actually remain in an active period, just not gloomy because systems aren’t getting hung up across the area. We’ll continue to do this dance throughout the next 7-10 days, where we have to see if the timing works out and they pass through overnight on any given day.
We continue to trend warmer and warmer, and early June is looking pretty good temp-wise. Upper 70’s to low 80’s will begin to become more commonplace.
