ENTIRE NYC WEEKEND SLIDES DOWNHILL GLOOMWISE
ENTIRE NYC WEEKEND SLIDES DOWNHILL GLOOMWISE – Good morning. Our transition away from a terrible early Spring continues, and it remains a process due to colder than normal ocean temps and lagging issues up north. This will translate into a specific kind of weather that drifts in and out over the course of the next couple of weeks, but our heads remain above the water, temp-wise.
We climb into the upper 60’s and low 70’s today, but that cold ocean will play a role in the form of some localized, coastal fog. Some will clear out, especially a couple of miles inland, but we may have to wait till afternoon for things to clear out at the immediate shore. Regardless, an approaching front will clear it all out by evening as it passes by. Expect the chance of a few showers and/or thundershowers from early afternoon onward.
The slight threat of some rain continues into the night, but we begin to clear out after midnight to give us a sunny and seasonably mild day tomorrow. Look for low 70’s in most areas with a light NW breeze. Unfortunately, a slow moving front drapes down from the north before sunrise Saturday, changing the dynamic for the entire weekend.
Clouds and showers move in on Saturday. It won’t be an entire washout, but look for the chance of scattered showers and a few rumbles of thunder at any time after noon; highs in the upper 60’s to low 70’s. On Sunday for Mother’s Day, the chance of showers decreases slightly, but the threat remains as do the clouds. We’ll also find ourselves on the other side of that front, so expect a cool and damp low to mid 60’s as highs for the day.
We finally begin to clear out on Monday, with clouds and sun, highs near 70. Warmer air heads back in on Tuesday as 75-80 degree temps and bright sunshine return. Wednesday has the potential to be the warmest day of the week, with 80-85 not out of the realm of possibilities; maybe even higher in spots depending on how much warm air can head in. Then we return back to mild temps for Thursday, and we’re keeping a close eye on another cooler, maritime push for Friday.
