Fred Makes Florida Landfall Today NYC Meanders Near Average Temps
Good morning everyone. Clouds have moved in and will stick around all the way to Friday as a plume of clouds and moisture move up into the Tennessee and Ohio River Valley, then slowly drift east. Fred is helping to add to this moisture, and will be making landfall today in the panhandle of Florida. We continue to watch the tropics, including a feature off of Bermuda; which for the moment looks like meteorological eye candy and that’s it.
SATELLITE
For today, we’ll have more clouds than sun, a few blue patches here and there, increasing humidity, and highs in the low 80’s. A northeast wind will help increase the humidity a bit.
WEATHER RADAR
Tomorrow is pretty much more of the same with maybe some extra clouds. We’ll have the slight chance of a shower, more low 80’s, and even more humidity with winds switching to the southeast.
We’ll watch Fred’s remnants to see if he touches off any showers late Wednesday, but the best chance will be on Thursday if he doesn’t skip to our west. Highs in the low 80’s both days and humid.
The sun returns a little bit on Friday with humid conditions and mid 80’s; then we may see some mid to upper 80’s both Saturday and Sunday.
Right now Fred’s looking like a very healthy, compact system with winds sustained at 60mph now. We should be looking at a strong tropical storm or minimal hurricane at landfall. Grace continues to have a rough time in the Caribbean and there really is no concern until it enters the Gulf. Right now those concerns would be aimed towards Texas and Mexico. Our last feature is a tropical depression to the NE of Bermuda. That’s expected to slowly become Tropical Storm Henri, and do a little dip to the SW, then North, then Northeast. At this point I don’t see it as a threat to the east coast, but if it gathers enough strength, we could see rip currents and rough surf as he departs.
