Friday Morning Severe Weather West of NYC Will Fire Back Up

Morning Severe Weather West of NYC Will Fire Back Up

Good morning everyone. We have a beautiful day today with relatively lower humidity compared to what we’ve experienced lately, and we’ll keep the rain away for today. Overnight, a line of hefty storms will fire up and race across western PA and the Finger Lakes region on NY, then into central NY, NEPA, and maybe NW NJ. These storms could be severe in nature, with damaging straight-line winds, frequent lightning, large hail, and isolated tornados. Storms should die off as they hit the marine layer, but then fire up again late morning/afternoon. These will be different in nature, slowing moving, and more scattered.

After everything clears out, we have a beautiful weekend ahead.

For today, expect a morning mix of sun and clouds, then mostly sunny skies. Dewpoints in the 60’s will be a far cry from the extra muggy weather we’ve been having. It’ll still be very warm with highs 85-90, but it’ll certainly be more comfortable.

Overnight those storms fire up well to our west and should fizzle out as they reach us in the morning. We’ll have some leftover clouds as everything dissipates, then we’ll have a mix of sun and clouds & humid again. Storms will fire up and they will be scattered in slow moving in nature. Look for the possibility of some flooding where those storms do set up, and some may have small hail, frequent lightning, and gusty winds. Highs tomorrow a muggy mid 80’s.
